Web User Interface (Web UI)

Repstance Instance is delivered with the Web UI Server, which allows you to configure, manage and monitor Repstance Processes using a web browser. 

The Web UI Server uses the HTTPS protocol through port 3000, so this port must be accessible from the computer that runs the web browser. The Web UI Server passes the requests of the browser to the Repstance Server on the same machine through port 8797, the port that repcli and the REST API use from other computers (see Configure repcli for Remote Access). Port 8797 does not have to be accessible from the computer that runs the web browser. 

The Web UI Server is initially supplied with a Self-Signed Certificate. It is highly recommended that the user replaces it with a security certificate of the required Security level. The certificate and the key of the Web UI Server are the files: 

• /opt/repstance/ui2/server/server.crt – the certificate
• /opt/repstance/ui2/server/server.key – the key

Replace them with your files (the user repstance, which runs the service, must be able to read them) and restart the Web UI service: 

The port 3000 is the “const port = 3000” entry in the /opt/repstance/ui2/server.js file. 

Note – These files are replaced with the default ones when Repstance is updated (see How to Update Repstance), so repeat the change after an update. The key, crt and port entries of the /opt/repstance/conf/repstance.conf file belong to the Repstance Server (port 8797) and do not change the certificate or the port of the Web UI Server. 

After successful deployment of Repstance instance find its Public DNS. If the Public DNS is not configured, use the Private IP address. 

To enter Repstance Web UI, use your web browser to access to the following address: 

Use “repstance” as username. The default password in the AWS environment is the Instance ID and the VM ID in the Azure cloud. The password can also be found and changed in the /opt/repstance/conf/repstance.conf file (see “token” section). It is recommended to change the default password after the first login. Restart the Repstance services to apply the new password (see How to Stop Repstance Services and How to Start Repstance Services).
